at Wärtsilä in the UK
The Wärtsilä Propulsion Services workshop facility in Glasgow, Scotland, offers all the capabilities of a conventional manual machine shop. It is also fully equipped for repair and breakdown work on a 24/7 basis if required.
Wärtsilä can provide a full range of turning, milling, vertical boring and horizontal boring services for propellers, thrusters and water-jets. Our operating areas are varied to include, marine, oil and gas, hydro and general engineering. All our engineers are used to working with a variety of materials such as aluminum bronze, stainless steel (including duplex) and cast iron.
One of the key Wärtsilä strengths is reverse engineering of obsolete parts, including non-original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components. This means that we can produce and machine new castings in any material against a sample. Our workshop is fitted with a special 10 tonne overhead crane equipped to handle and load large pieces into our larger machines, such as the Long Bed Lathe and Large Horizontal Borer.
