Full OEM lifecycle support & global coverage

Ballast water treatment for your complete fleet

Choosing the right BWMS system is a huge and complex investment decision for owners, operators or managers of medium to large shipping fleets. In today’s market, there are already more than 60 competing systems available. However, Wärtsilä Water & Waste is the only marine solution provider that is able to offer Ballast Water Management Systems with full OEM lifecycle support and global coverage.

The Ballast Water Management Convention, developed by the IMO, came into effect on September 8, 2017. This convention concerns ships over 400 GRT and is effecting over 34,000 vessels globally.

Benefits of a fleetwide BWMS

When outsourcing the BWMS challenge of your complete fleet, a partnership with us brings potential savings and benefits:

  • Single supplier ironing out and reducing the design and integration process across your fleet. Time and resources are saved on procurement, surveying, installation & commissioning.
  • Savings on spare parts, thanks to commonality across the fleet. Master service agreements reduce downtime.
  • Our extensive global availability of services minimise any potential downtime risks.
  • With our technical assessment of your vessels' BWMS, recommendations can be made on what to consider during the installation and operation. (e.g. potential equipment locations, installation paths, electrical cabinet locations).
