Aquarius Ballast Water Management Systems Compliance guaranteed

Wärtsilä Water & Waste takes pride in developing two advanced lines of Aquarius Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) that enable vessels of all types to meet the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) D-2 and United States Coast Guard (USCG) performance discharge obligations. Our BWMS offerings, one based on filtration & UV (UV) and the other on filter & side stream electro-chlorination (EC), have successfully obtained both IMO and USCG Type Approvals. In addition, they hold multiple class and hazardous area ATEX approvals, providing our customers with maximum flexibility and choice.

In anticipation of the approaching compliance deadline for the Ballast Water Code, we are excited to introduce our latest solution - Aquarius UV with Manta.

With the retrofit deadline of September 8, 2024, rapidly approaching, this innovative system ensures the same high level of performance and compliance while offering the advantages of a reduced footprint and lead time. Moreover, it is offered at an affordable price point, catering to the needs of our customers.

Choose Wärtsilä Water & Waste for industry-leading Aquarius BWMS solutions that guarantee compliance, performance, and peace of mind.

Required by IMO

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) introduced the Ballast Water Management Convention (BWMC) in 2004 to address the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments for sea-going vessels exceeding 400 gt utilizing ballast water. The Ballast Water Code (BWC) became effective on September 8, 2017, mandating all new and existing ships to effectively manage their ballast water and tanks to eliminate or neutralize invasive species in their ballast water discharge.

Leveraging our extensive experience and profound expertise in vessels and marine engineering, we possess an optimal understanding of the environment in which a Ballast Water Management System needs to be installed.

Through our technical assessment of BWMS for your specific vessel, we can identify potential equipment locations, installation paths, and electrical cabinet placements. Our team of engineers is well-equipped to provide recommendations for crucial considerations during the installation process.

Recognizing the significance of equipment operations and the impact of problems and downtime on the owners' financial performance, we advocate the benefits of a single supplier for the entire design process, equipment supply, and installation support. This integrated approach not only enhances cost-efficiency but also streamlines communication across different disciplines within the same company, ensuring heightened effectiveness.
