24/7 Wärtsilä Expertise Centres to offer unparalleled technical and operational support to customers in Middle East & Asia

Wärtsilä Corporation, News 27 April 2020 at 11:30 UTC+2

The technology group Wärtsilä’s Expertise Centres (ECs) in Middle East and Asia are expanding to 24/7 manned operations. The centres provide operational support and maintenance planning for customers in energy industry which have a Lifecycle solution agreement with Wärtsilä. The ECs to expand to 24/7 manned operations are located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Chennai, India. The Dubai centre was the first to shift to manned operations on April 16, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 crisis and the need for remote support.

The other ECs based in Jakarta and Dhaka will continue to operate 24/7 from home-based connectivity. To meet full functionality needs, unmanned ECs will get help from the manned ECs. The latter will help to maintain and optimise power plant performance over their lifecycle even in challenging situations. Wärtsilä’s engine technology and services enable remote on-line monitoring of selected parameters, with advice and recommendations based on the analysis of data from monitoring the condition and performance of the specified machinery. This results in operational cost benefits for customers, due to (among others) a reduced need for manpower on site, as the performance of the plant can be supported with real-time monitoring by Wärtsilä experts.

“The unprecedented challenges that we are facing today have driven us to further develop our remote expertise support. We aim to improve customer satisfaction by diagnosing problems faster and more accurately, and by running more efficient services operations so that our customers can experience the new normal with the help of our services”, says Alexandre Eykerman, Energy Business Director, Middle East, Wärtsilä Energy Business.

“Wärtsilä is committed to support our customers in keeping their power plants running safely and smoothly even during the toughest of times. Digitally enabled 24/7 technical support provided by the Expertise Centres in Middle East & Asia is an invaluable service that ensures uninterrupted technical and operational support to our customers”, says Henri van Boxtel, Energy Business Director, South Asia, Wärtsilä.

Wärtsilä Lifecycle solution agreements enable a holistic view of power generation operations, and the customer is served by experts and ECs all the way. Among the services the ECs deliver are performance management, operational support and maintenance management and analytics. Altogether these enable the full potential of assets to be realised, as well as guaranteed performance, operational efficiency and optimised maintenance of the plant.
