Wärtsilä, a global leader in complete lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets, has signed a long-term maintenance agreement with Prosafe, the world’s leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels also known as flotels. The 10-year agreement was signed in October 2015 and covers the diesel engines onboard Prosafe’s new build flotel Safe Boreas. Maintenance agreements for Prosafe’s three other new build flotels – Safe Notos, Safe Zephyrus and Safe Eurus – are expected to be signed later in 2016. Flotels will be delivered in 2015-2016.
The scope of the signed maintenance agreement is comprehensive. It includes all services from the supply of spare parts and maintenance work to fast online support and assistance for Prosafe’s vessels. The agreement also contains important components from the new Wärtsilä Genius services portfolio as it covers condition-based maintenance (CBM) to optimise the performance of the vessel’s diesel engines. With Wärtsilä Genius services’ CBM, Wärtsilä’s specialists monitor and analyse various engine parameters. The maintenance is planned in relation to an engine’s lifecycle and actual condition. Wärtsilä Genius services improve and optimise the flotels’ operational efficiency.
Wärtsilä’s solution to ensure safe operations and offer advanced technical support were key for Prosafe to partner with Wärtsilä. Improved efficiency and reduced emissions were also high on Prosafe’s agenda when selecting their long-term partner.
“We wanted a partner with in-depth knowledge of our equipment. Based on this knowledge, Wärtsilä can manage our maintenance operations and enhance the environmental performance of our operations. This enables us to focus on our core competence, which is to provide innovative and cost-efficient accommodation services for our customers even in harsh environmental conditions,” says Robert Landsman, Senior Manager “Asset Integrity & Maintenance” from Prosafe.
“We are very pleased in our cooperation with Prosafe. They are a pioneer in operating semi-submersible flotels all around the world and we feel pride that they chose us to take care of the maintenance operations of their new build vessels,” says Derek Griffiths, Senior Account Manager for Wärtsilä UK.
