Wärtsilä Corporation, Stock exchange release 2 April 2008 at 16:00 UTC+2

In April 2006 Wärtsilä Corporation was selected to deliver a 163 MWe gas-fired power plant to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in California. The project was subject to the approval of the California Public Utility Commission and environmental permits issued by the California Energy Commission.
All approvals have now been received and the order has been included in Wärtsilä’s order book in March 2008. The value of the project is more than EUR 100 million.

Wärtsilä is now released to begin detailed engineering and manufacturing on the power plant. This begins preparation for the start of plant construction in the latter part of 2008. The plant will be located in Humboldt Bay near Eureka in northern California and is expected to enter commercial operation by mid-2010.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in California is one of the largest gas and electric utilities in the United States.
