The M/Y SAMAR is a steel-and-aluminium Laurent Giles designed luxury motor yacht, with studio and interior styling by Joe Thome. She was built and launched by Devonport Yachts of England in 2006.
The ship is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system consisting of three Wärtsilä diesel generators and two drive motors with twin Wärtsilä fixed-pitch propellers. Together, they provide the yacht’s top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. Wärtsilä's scope of supply also includes the integrated navigation command system Wärtsilä NACOS and automation system.
