- Michele Cafagna will continue in his role as Vice President, Wärtsilä Continuous Improvement
The Wärtsilä technology group announces that Gianluca Bertossi has been appointed Managing Director of Wärtsilä Italia, the position will be effective starting from December 1, 2024.
During the coming weeks, Michele and Gianluca will work together to ensure continuity of the ongoing activities with particular attention to the ReStart programme that has been recently launched to support the company transformation. After the handover, Michele will continue as Vice President, Wärtsilä Continuous Improvement focusing full time on the strategic initiative at global level to improve Wärtsilä’s ways of working.
Gianluca has worked in Wärtsilä since 2001 in several positions in Purchasing and Supply Management functions. Besides his new role as the Managing Director for Wärtsilä Italy, Gianluca will continue in his position as Director for Global Parts Management responsible for Wärtsilä Global Logistics Services (WGLS).
The Group sincerely thanks Michele Cafagna for the work carried out in the last two years and is pleased that he will continue his journey in the Wärtsilä Group by returning to his role full-time. He has given an important contribution in guiding Wärtsilä Italia through a complex path aimed at the reindustrialisation of the Bagnoli factory and setting the direction for WIT going forward as a technology and services company.
