The technology group Wärtsilä has signed a new distributor contract with Italy-based CMC Marine covering its mid-sized waterjet series. Under the terms of the agreement, CMC will be responsible for the sales, distribution, installation, and after-sales service of the Wärtsilä waterjets in Italy, Malta and Monaco.
The applications to be served by CMC include commercial high-speed vessels, workboats, fast yachts, and high-speed ferries. CMC is well established in these markets with its successful range of sophisticated stabilisation systems and thrusters.
“Wärtsilä is a world-class provider of high-quality waterjet solutions, and we are delighted to be working with them. Their products complement our own offering very well, and we see Wärtsilä as the ideal partner for future growth,” says Alessandro Cappiello, CEO CMC.
“Italy is one of Europe’s most developed high-speed vessel markets, has numerous inter-island fast ferry connections and a world class yacht building industry. This cooperation with CMC Marine will help us serve Italian ship owners and shipyards in the best possible way, and we see this agreement as a positive strategic development for the company,” says Sander van Oosterhout, Product Director Waterjets, Wärtsilä.

The Wärtsilä high performing waterjets have been designed to meet and exceed the competitive operational levels required today. They ensure optimal efficiency, excellent hydrodynamic performance, less maintenance, and minimal environmental impact.
Wärtsilä offers two main waterjet executions: a pre-assembled skid-mounted range and a modular jet range. The plug-and-play skid-mounted units are available in five standard sizes up to approximately 4500 kW. The axial built Wärtsilä WXJ modular waterjets represent state-of-the-art performance, and offer a high level of customisation to suit individual vessel types and specific operator’s needs. They are available in sizes ranging from 450 mm (500 kW) to 810 mm (4500 kW).
By integrating Wärtsilä’s axial flow waterjet solutions with CMC’s stabiliser systems, high-speed vessels will benefit from increased operational efficiency, passenger comfort, and excellent sea-keeping capability.
