The RoRo vessel MV Theben is one of the two recently delivered ships with Wärtsilä EGC (Exhaust Gas Cleaning) systems, owned by a Japanese shipowner and currently being operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen. The vessels are almost 200 metres long, 36.5 metres wide, and feature five liftable car decks, allowing for multiple configurations and a wide variety of customer cargo. The vessels can transport up to 8000 car equivalent units.
Wärtsilä’s scrubber system for MV Theben is one of the world’s largest multi-stream scrubber systems installed, and removes sulphur and particulates from the exhaust gases of the vessel’s main and auxiliary engines. The Singapore flag state authorities have recently approved Wärtsilä’s exhaust gas cleaning (EGC) systems onboard MV Theben and MV Themis, making it the first EGC to be approved by an Asian flag authority.
