Dead ship condition

marine

The condition under which the main propulsion plant, boilers and auxiliaries are not in operation due to the absence of power. Compressed air, starting current from batteries etc. is not available for the recovery of the main power supply, for the restart of the auxiliaries and for the start-up of the propulsion plant. It is, however, assumed that the equipment for start-up of the emergency diesel generator is ready for use.

The ship machinery installations shall be so designed, that they can be brought to operation from dead ship condition.
