In Bangladesh, Wärtsilä started its operation in the late nineties as a locally incorporated company named Wärtsilä Bangladesh Ltd (WBD) to uphold the country’s power sector with the focus on the availability of necessary services and instantaneous support to its customer all over the country.
Currently, Wärtsilä's main business activities in Bangladesh are New Build Sales, Life Cycle Services, Marine Power Sales, and compact power solutions towards the transition of 100% renewable energy. As of today, Wärtsilä has delivered more than 5,000 MW of power, including IPPs & Captive Power Plants in the Bangladesh energy market.
Presently over 2000 MW installation is under agreement, with the value addition of Digital enablers such as remote connectivity and expert insight support, which optimizes the lifecycle value.
Wärtsilä is now focusing on decarbonization by implementing market-leading technologies which offer a broad range of environmentally sound solutions in both private and public sectors of the country.
Wärtsilä's two service centers – at Gazipur and Chattogram – offer and provide various specialized services to customers.
