Ambassador of Finland to the US, Ms. Kirsti Kauppi, visited Houston this week to meet with Finnish-American communities, organizations and businesses as part of Finland’s 100th anniversary celebration. On February 23rd, Wärtsilä was one of the first stops on the schedule.
During the visit, Ambassador Kauppi met with local Wärtsilä management to discuss the trade and economic possibilities in the United States and greater Houston area. She was guided on a tour of the new Wärtsilä North America Headquarters which included a special demo of the Wärtsilä Dynamic Positioning training equipment in addition to the workshop and QuanitServ team areas.
The program concluded with a group brunch with local employees. Ambassador Kauppi highlighted the theme of Finland’s Centennial celebration by emphasizing, “In order to succeed in a global world, we need to work together.” She also gave details on the “Traveling Sauna”, which is, just as it sounds, a mobile sauna traveling across the United States during 2017 to invite everyone to experience the Finnish culture, achievements and innovation.
This week’s visit to Texas is part of a full schedule of stops to numerous cities in the United States as part of the Finland 100 celebration and the Finnish Embassy’s commitment to enhance the Finnish-US relationship.
