From environmental compliance to risk reduction, a seawater lubricated system can bring significant benefits to ship owners and operators.
Experienced in oil-to-water conversions, we can manage the entire conversion process and supply Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare parts.
Looking after our environment.
Converting to a seawater lubricated system can offer significant benefits to ship operators and owners by: eliminating of accidental oil pollution risk and associated fines relating to green ship certification; reducing the risk of a vessel being impounded as a result of accidental stern tube oil loss; providing an environmentally sound solution; ensuring compliance with Marpol Annex 1; removing the likelihood of shaft seal damage following cable or rope entanglement; and simplifying the mechanical makeup.
We can oversee the entire oil-to-water conversion process by: removing seals, bearings, pipework and tanks from the vessel; shrink fitting journals to the shaft; applying a corrosion-preventative coat; installing water lubricated composite bearings and an inboard water lubricated seal; and preparing a proposal and assisting with long-term cost analysis.
