Wärtsilä 32 methanol – The power to reach carbon-neutral

Moving forward with methanol

The Wärtsilä 32 Methanol engine can help meet your decarbonisation ambitions.

It is seven years since Wärtsilä converted the first ever commercial vessel to run on methanol. Now, as methanol emerges as one of the main fuels likely to help decarbonise shipping, we have poured our experience into the development of our first modern, methanol-fuelled engine, the Wärtsilä 32 Methanol.

This webinar provides a first glimpse of the new engine, its technical characteristics and the storage and handling systems developed to allow methanol to be used as a fuel on both existing and newbuild vessels. We’ll share early ship owner experience and outlooks as well as expectations of growing green methanol availability. All part of this in-depth exploration of how the Wärtsilä 32 Methanol gives you the power to reach carbon-neutral ship operations.

Topics will include:

  • Introducing methanol as a viable marine fuel
  • Engine technical overview and value-adding benefits
  • The methanol system onboard the vessel
  • Converting vessels for methanol fuel
  • Customer experience in newbuilding stage
