Smart Propulsion Machinery for Bulkers & Tankers

Say hello to the new future-fuel ready technology and design for bulkers & tankers!

As the marine industry sails towards a decarbonised future, owners and operators everywhere are having to face unprecedented demands. For example, energy efficiency in design (EEDI) and for existing ships (EEXI), plus complex issues such as the Carbon Intensity Index, Poseidon Principles and the Sea Cargo Charter. And how do we set about complying with new and tougher regulations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions?

Never before has the design of newbuilds been more demanding. Wärtsilä, together with the classification society RINA, have assessed these challenges and designed a next-generation propulsion setup that can future-proof new bulkers and tankers.

Improved efficiency, even when slow-steaming with low engine loads is central to this new design. So too are improved levels of redundancy and safety with a twin-engine configuration, while the latest technologies are used to deliver smart power generation.

In short, this new and smarter propulsion machinery setup will change conventional thinking on how newbuilds are designed.

In this webinar we will explore:

  • Gain insights on how this game-changing solution can reduce operating costs and maximise the vessel's residual value
  • Discover the future-proof development that eases compliance with GHG reduction targets
  • Learn the optimised propulsion arrangements for slow-steaming and the solution suitable for possible hybrid conversion
  • The flexibility to utilise future carbon-neutral fuels without major modifications
