Cyber requirements: how to meet them with the power of type approvals

Watch this webinar to learn about cyber type approvals and where Wärtsilä stands with its programme.

Cyber security has effectively become a license to sell. Requirements on cyber resiliency UR E26 and E27 from the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) have become mandatory for marine newbuilds with contracts signed from 1 July 2024 onwards.

Wärtsilä is well prepared for that and has been running a type approval programme to obtain cyber type approvals aligned with the IACS UR E27 cyber requirements for all applicable equipment.

A type approval allows a vendor to demonstrate that they meet specific requirements and removes the need to demonstrate compliance during each delivery. Cyber security follows the same logic, with equipment being pre-verified by a classification society.
