Wärtsilä Voyage and PortLink Limited will supply Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) in India with the latest “state-of-the-art” SMART Ports solution comprising Navi-Harbour VTMS from Wärtsilä and an advanced Port Management Information System (PMIS) from PortLink".
The prestigious international tender was concluded in favour of Wärtsilä Voyage and the contract was signed on July 22nd. Mumbai is a major port on the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean sea-route. The port lies on the Western coast of India, in a natural deep-water harbour.
Wärtsilä Navi-Harbour is a leading VTMS solution popular with modern ports/harbours worldwide that require a powerful, reliable and robust solution which fully complies with the highest international standards. It is extremely customisable but for Mumbai will comprise: Coastal Surveillance Radars, Automatic Identification System (AIS), VHF Radio communication system, integration of Radio Direction Finder systems, CCTV surveillance, integration with weather Hydro-Meteo sensors, chart-based integrated VTS operator workstations, data recording/replay, and more.
Additionally, the PortLink PMIS is a crucial part of the MPT upgrade. It is a comprehensive and tried-and-tested SMART ports solution which is designed to assist in the planning, monitoring and management of complex port operations - including port call planning, scheduling, ship arrival/departure, anchorage monitoring, pilot/tug management, management reports, business intelligence (inc KPI reporting).
Wärtsilä and MPT also signed a 6-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC).
The new system will enable MPT to have seamless coverage of Port of Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru Port inner channels, port entry channel, anchorage areas & port responsibility areas. In addition to MPT, other major beneficiaries and stakeholders of the new VTMS System are Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Indian Navy/Coast Guard, Custom Authority and Coastal Police-Maharashtra.
The upgrading project is scheduled for completion by the end of April 2021.
