Where I come from, Wärtsilä is a famous company. It is reliable and it is a state of the art company.
I am proud to have joined the team. In my position I am in contact with the technicians, technical department and the clients. It combines what I like in life: human relationship and the technological side. I have to say, I am proud also to be part of a company that promotes the environmental aspect and research for decarbonation.
I come from a background in merchant navy school, but there are a lot of possibilities to learn more and more.
On a more emotional aspect, I feel like I am protected and supported at the same time by my manager. He makes sure that I have enough time and energy to carry out my personal stuff, instead of pushing me to work more and more without limit. I find a great sense of satisfaction being a Field Service Engineer, travelling the world, fixing engines, meeting new people, and learning new things. The rumbling sound of a Wärtsilä engine that has the power to push a ship along is a feeling that cannot be described. The first start after every overhaul or repair still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
