Helóisa’s path to Wärtsilä took shape because of her passion for engineering. With a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, her fascination with machinery started at a young age. ''I dare to say that the oil and the noise of the machines have been in my blood since I was a child'', she says, reflecting on the environments that inspired her career.
Before joining Wärtsilä, Helóisa spent nearly nine years working at a shipyard, honing her skills in ship repairs and coordinating new builds. Her move to Wärtsilä in 2023 marked a natural evolution in her career, allowing her to grow her expertise in a global team while still doing what she loves.
Helóisa’s role as a Service Engineer revolves around solving challenges and delivering solutions to our stakeholders. Her enthusiasm for her work is evident when she describes her daily motivation: ''What inspires me the most about this work is the diversity of tasks and the challenges we face. Each project is different; even if we do the same work twice, there are always new things and strategies to learn'', says Helóisa. ''They are dynamic jobs that always have a solution, and I love it.''
At Wärtsilä, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. For Helóisa, teamwork is an opportunity to learn and grow. ''It’s all about people and working as a team is always positive. As I have learned in my life, 'divide to add'. This type of work also allows me to meet new people and visit places I might never have imagined going to.''
Helóisa’s time at Wärtsilä has been defined by capturing moments of connection and growth. ''The best thing about this work is socialising with people, visiting new countries and sharing knowledge'', she says.
Helóisa enjoys hitting the gym, swimming, tennis and spending time with family and friends. It’s not just about having an active lifestyle in her downtime; it’s also about making the most of every moment.
''I love a table full of food and friends where we can catch up. Life is meant to be lived, and we have time to rest later'', she says. Helóisa’s zest for life and work is reflected in everything she does, whether solving complex engineering challenges or enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
