Wärtsilä has supplied a fully integrated LNG system for six LNG offshore vessels owned by Louisiana-based Harvey Gulf. The vessels are the first ever U.S. flagged LNG powered Offshore Supply Vessels. In addition to the LNG fuel storage and handling components, Wärtsilä’s integrated system also includes an electrical and automation package, dual-fuel machinery and complete propulsion.
Each Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV) is powered by three Wärtsilä 6-cylinder 34DF dual-fuel engines capable of running on either LNG or conventional liquid fuels. The LNG storage capacity of 290 cubic meters (m3) enables more than a week of vessel operational time.

Choosing Wärtsilä was simple: Nobody else could provide dual-fuel engines. Wärtsilä is a one-stop shop for LNG systems. And the Technical Management Agreement assures our new vessels are maintained to the highest standards.
In gas mode, NOx emissions are reduced by some 85% compared to diesel operation, SOx emissions are completely eliminated since gas contains no sulphur, and CO2 emissions are also reduced. Furthermore, particulate emissions are virtually zero since natural gas has no residuals.
Wärtsilä has also delivered the control system for Harvey Gulf’s shore-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuelling facility. The scope of supply comprises everything needed to ensure full control of the entire fuelling process from the control room on-board the Harvey Energy class platform supply vessels.
In addition, Harvey Gulf also signed a five-year Technical Management Agreement with Wärtsilä in order to optimize the ideal running conditions and maintenance for its LNG fleet.
